KNIGHTIA
Green River Formation
Eocene period
Wyoming

Knightia were schooling fish, and as a result are frequently found in mass mortality layers.  They were abundant, and important because they were included in most of the  Green River's larger fish diets.  These fish were double scuted,  having rows of dorsal and ventral scutes running from the back of the head to the median fins.
