Priscacara
Green River Formation
Eocene period
Wyoming

The Priscacara is extinct with no modern relatives. Fossil records show that it appears to have been a schooling fish.  It is easily identified by its sunfish-like body and its thick dorsal and anal spines, which may have provided protection from its being swallowed from behind.
