Ruby Crystal Specimens
Availability of ruby crystals from Mysore, India is very limited due to export restrictions. The matrix must be split very carefully with the grain to expose the ruby crystals without breaking them. It then takes further preparation with special tools to reveal their hidden beauty. Ruby has a hardness of nine and is the red member of the Corundum Family. Only diamond is harder than the ruby on Moh's hardness scale.
